Dr. Chung-Kang Peng is Director of the Center for Dynamical Biomarkers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School and a Visiting Chair Professor at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) in Taiwan. He served as the founding Dean (2012-2014) of the College of Health Sciences and Technology and the K.-T. Li Chair Professor at National Central University in Taiwan. He was also a Visiting Professor at Peking University and China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.

Dr. Peng has extensive expertise in statistical physics and its application to the study of physiological measures. He has developed many techniques, including detrended fluctuation analysis, multiscale entropy analysis, information-based similarity algorithm, cardiopulmonary coupling analysis, and multimodal pressure-flow analysis. His publications have been cited >39,000 times. Two of his articles were selected by Physical Review E and Chaos as the most important milestone articles for 1994 and 1995. He was the recipient of the Calvin & Rose G. Hoffman Prize in 2004, the 10-Year Innovator Award from BIDMC in 2013, and Distinguished Alumnus Award of NCTU in 2015. Joint with the HTC Corporation, Dr. Peng led a team to compete in the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE international competition, which awarded the biggest biomedical prize in history. After 4 years of competition, his team was one of the top 2 teams, and received $1 million prize for its achievement in April 2017.

Dr. Peng is a founding member of the PhysioNet (www.physionet.org) resource, which attracts more than 1 million visitors with more than 200 TB data downloaded each year.
